Men in Blue, just keep looking cute....
"Ek sooch thi,
Ek Sapna tha....."
Jo sirf sapna hi reh gaya!....
Yeah, I know the real reasons :
1. It was team LG and not team Samsung. 'Cause agar 'Team Samsung Ho to India First' hi hota.
2. Team's ambition was left back home. If they'd hav been allowed to bring their Hero honda ambitions with them, they'd definitely have been 'Sabse aage'!
3. Sourav and his team were in pursuit of taming a tiger and in the process missed out on a Kangaroo that hopped away with all their 'pepsi' in its bag!!
Hey, but seriously speaking, from New Zealand debacle to World Cup final......our comeback can be termed as nothing but resilience! Yes! and did anybody seriously expect India to reach finals when the world cup had started? At least not me! So I must say, I'm really proud of our men in blue. And offcourse yeh wakht hai (haar me) gham ke aansoo bahane ka! But its the spirit of game that matters ultimately and the satisfaction that the best team has won the world cup. So forget about aansoos, yeh time hai, shor machane ka, seetiyaan bajane ka, 'cause is khelne ka kuch aur hi hai mazaa.....
Aaa yeah yo, yeah yo aaa!

Absurdities (Contd....)
Hmmm...here's another 'set' of absurdities; rather I should call them Jackasses V 1.1 or something. Cause they are advanced kinda absurdities.
1. Pakistani Custom officers arrested fishermen from Porbandar and whacked them and tortured them to avenge Pakistan's defeat against India. Every blow was made swearing something at Sachin and Sehwag! A news channel had made a report on it. The customs released those people. But they were badly beaten up. What a sick mentality! Cricket is a 'game'; but here in subcontinent, it has become more of a prestige issue. Infact in this case I'll call it a mental disorder. This craze! Cricket has become more of a glamorous facet of everybody's lives. Criketers here enjoy larger than life status. And people dream of making career in Cricket and earning those big bucks! I had read somewhere that the dutch and canadian players play cricket as hobby. Most of them are qualified professionals belonging to varying fields like medicine, engineering, banking etc. In their case overall attitude is totally different. They play for sheer pleasure of the sport.
2. Finance wizard of India, 'Hon.' Mr Jaswant Singh has exempted Indian cricket team from taxes for winning the matches in the qualifying round. Now assuming that the ministry of finance works for growth and development of Indian economy, I can't understand how this move will contribute to that noble cause...maybe, I'm dumb when it come to such complicated matters... but what I understand is that such a move really demeans hard earned money of an average Indian.
3. A famous fairness cream's ad was banned recently as it degraded women, especially the darkskinned. Tell me one thing people, if AC black apple or whatever it is can be accepted then why not this one?? The liquor ad tries to give solace to some despos and fairness cream ad tries to give solace to the plain Jane group. On that aspect both seem to be doing some social work.
4. Today's city-edition of a national daily has an article by a famous socialite, arguing for Mandira Bedi. She implies that Bedi brings a certain feminine aura to those boring cricket discussions. Well, if anybody was to go by Bedi's witty statements, I'm sure, they'll get a wrong impression about Indian women. Bedi apparently has made female population tune into set max. I think that's debatable. She might have made males who know nothing of cricket tune into set max. Sandhya Mridul and Maria Goretti are also there to act as glam dolls. And I think they do their job very well, with grace. Bedi was refered in that article as a buxom beauty. If that's the right interpretation of her 'dynamic' appearance, I seriously need to improve my vocabulary. In fact, I feel the socialite who has written this article can bring that aura vagaira in a far better way.

WHOA!!!
Saturday's win was absolutely smacking!
Not because it was against Pakistan, but because the visual treat that Sachin gave us....
Sachin himself described this as his most important innings...it not only gave us victory, but also boosted confidence of our players. Off course like any other Indo-Pak match, this one was also full of sledging and all masala:
Verbal abuse was a given, at one point, a pak fielder sweared at the Umpire. All the people here in subcontinent would have understood it; fortunately, the umpire couldn't! On the other hand, one saw Dada, the 'asli bengal tiger' clutching his locket and praying like a crazy while yuvraj and dravid were playing. It seems, this last minute precaution helped India definitely. In the spectators, some people were praying Allah/ doing Namaz for same reason, but Dada's prayers were more intense. In India, Balasaheb Thakre had apparently appealed to lord Shiva (It being Mahashivratri here) for the Indian Victory. And off course the Lord yielded to such a high profile prayer. But there were just a few wise Indians like him. Most of the Indians forgot lord Shiva and spent entire day in front of televisions watching the demi-gods into action. Streets were empty, shops were closed; it appeared like a black-out or something around 8.00 pm,yes, to most of the Indians and Pakistanis, it was a war-time, on the playground! There's a Shiva temple near my home and people literally queued at 11.00 pm to take darshana. Through out the day, the place was deserted. Jubilations that followed the Indian victory included fireworks, the bands, liquor etc. Ice cream shop in our area got sold out at 11.45 in the night. Something which it had never faced throughout 7-8 years of its operations. There were 'Maha-Aartis' dedicated to Sachin, perhaps conducted by same people who had burned his posters 2-3 weeks ago. WHOA!!! people ARE crazy!!!!

We, the people..
As I am posting this entry, India is playing against England. After initial blast we had watching Tendulkar batting mercilessly, now things are coming back to square 1.... so, my title bar isn't all that inappropriate. Somehow, I'm yet to meet an Indian who doesn't care about cricket. Why are we so emotional about cricket..... in fact, we do not have something like 'sports oriented' culture. We are a one-sport nation, overlooking health part of sports and emphasizing the glamour part of it. No other sport is appreciated here, but cricket. Hockey is in fact our national sport, and once we were unbeaten champions..does anybody remember? people are psychologically involved in Cricket to such an extent that they would remain absent @ work, but wouldn't miss India- Pakistan match for anything!!! (Some ppl @ my work place are planning to do it, although they are on probation :) ) I had read a few days ago about a wedding in MP I think, where the bride and the groom tied knot watching India- Zimbabwe match!! And this kinda craze is vacillating type. On a day, people will write songs dedicated to their fav 'cricket- stars' (Sounds more like 'filmstars' eh? ) and next day, will paint their houses in black!! A win in Cricket match is matter of prestige and pride to this extent; but it never matters that the rest of the world looks down upon us for corruption, pollution, illiteracy etc.... I cannot deny that I follow this game with passion, but I think I'm level headed, and I know that India don't deserve to win the cup. Expecting something like this from our fragile team is really absurd!!
Anyways, I received a mail from my friend just now : ( It was sent earlier; but checked tonight). Some more examples of absurdity!

Random thoughts
This is my third entry this month!
Now, I have made myself comfortable to the schedule. I intend to write regularly, although how far will I be able to do it....I don't know. Work environment is good. Wherever more than one person is involved, diplomacy and politics are a given. My organisation is no exception to it. Although I am not directly involved in any of these things, I have to accept it as part of the game. Initially I was quite shocked to discover its extent. But now...I'm okay......
I have made some friends @ work. It was easier because we had some birthdays this month and so, the section heads managed to spare some time for those parties, where off course I got to know people in a better way. My work is more of accounting job. I feel I might get bored after a while; but the organisation promises growth. I think I need to 'sort out' my plans and feelings about career. Once I set my priorities, I believe, life will be much easier!
Cricket is the zeitgeist and I've changed the main image of this page. I've changed the title also; Hey, it suits us haanh! :)

Questions.......
Updating after a long time!
Was very busy with da training and the stuff...next week, we hav hands on training. Maybe a post from workplace then. Heck! no! we have monitoring software and absolutely strict rules... well, lemme see.
Somehow, I can't help writing : I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING!!!!
Why hav I taken up this job really ? frankly speaking, I have high career aspirations. And I know I'm gonna achieve them some day. But everything seems so uncertain...maybe, I was unlucky this time. I missed cut-off of one of the most valued mgt entrance exams by just a couple of marks. But this doesn't mean I will get admission next year. What if same thing happens next year? I took up this job quite impulsively. It was the first interview I had ever given and I got selected. So I thought this might have got something to do with the destiny. Overall, job is okay. Pay is gr8 for somebody of my age and experience (with lack of it). I tried for this job simply because rest of my friends had. Really, I don't know what am I doing with my life! I feel terribly insecure everyday! *Sigh*.........
Work seems interesting, but might get monotonus after a while. Besides, all the guys in my section are dolts.Girls are okay, but the guys.....oh they are soooooooo boring!!! :(

Et Cetra...
Yesterday was my first day @ work. It was pretty boring actually, we had 8 hours of training. Our trainer introduced us to the superiors, we were shown two documentaries on the company genesis etc. then there was a looong class-room session.*Sigh* training is of 1 mth duration.
Anyways, my weekend didn't turn out exactly as I had planned. 3 of my friends who are working, didn't have saturday off, it being the first saturday of the month. Two are studying and had a host of assignments. So I went with another friend to 'Swadeshi Mela' at Sion. Actually, I hate going to exhibitions. They are always so crowded! you have to buy hurriedly, cause there's always bustle. Besides, whenever I buy anything at exhibitions, my mom always says that I have been duped and the thing could be bought at half its price. So a wretched kinda feeling remains..., anyways, this time I had to go since my friend wanted to go and shop. We strolled endlessly through all of those 7 pandals. There were some novelties. So it wasn't very boring. At the entrance was this huge cut-out of 'BharatMata' picture, which is usually seen on any VHP stuff. Some 'sanskarabharati' people were singing patriotic songs. etc. etc. but what struck me most was a painting exhibition there by artist named Mohsin Sheikh. The theme of his paintings was kargil war. I know nothing of arts. But what he had depicted was totally unacceptable. He had shown some wolves and a lion in a picture. On wolves, he had painted pakistan's flag, and on the lion, there was watermark of Indian flag. In another picture, Rama was killing Ravana on whose forehead was Pakistan's flag. In yet another picture, Krishna carried dronagiri on which stood Indian parliament and Krishna stood on Kalia, the serpant whose hood showed pakistan's flag. What does the painter really want to tell? 'Pakistan' as a nation is evil? Is it really ethical to exhibit such kind of paintings which seems like an agenda on purpose? I'm sure most of the people in Pakistan are as humane as us. Just because some pakistanis are extremists, is it fair to tag pakistan as evil?
